Question
Hello my name is Jennifer and i have been researching sugar gliders for over a year now, i live in maryland and instaed of buying 1 i would like to rescue 1, if you halp me with where to look and what i should watch out for and what to look for when adopting these cute little guys it would be appreciated, Thanks Jennifer

Answer
Dear Jennifer:

A rescue operation should have clean cages and should be knowledgeable about sugar gliders.  They should have information available about the animals and vet info if there is any.

Rescues will usually charge an adoption fee to help with vet expenses and to discourage people who look for free pets as snake food, etc.  Affinity Sugar Gliders charges $75 per glider which in most cases includes the glider's cage and toys.

I tried to research some sugar glider rescues in MD, but did not have much luck.  Here is one I found

Norfolk  Sugar Gliders      Cindy Goodrich, celestial_star03@yahoo.com, 757 587 1948.

I figured you could call some of the local vets that treat sugar gliders.  They may be aware of rescues in your area.
