pregnant sugar gliders

Question
I was wondering.  I've got two sets of sugar gliders and want to stop them from getting pregnant anymore for awhile.   Overtime I try to separate them.  One of the females is pregnant.   Is there anyway that I can separate and put males together and females together while the one female is pregnant?  Will the other female help the mother or do I need to leave the male in with the female?

Answer
Jackie,

I would leave the father with his mate until the joeys are at least eight weeks OOP.  This is not a good time to change the living conditions.  Also, the other female might not take kindly to joeys that are not hers.

As for putting the females together, that would be fine.  The males, however, most likely will not get along.  You can try the introduction process described on my website:  nc.sugar.gliders.googlepages.com.  I have not had good luck introducing nonrelated males to each other.  Brothers are usually okay, but males are territorial, and usually will not tolerate another male in the colony.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.
