QuestionI am prepping a cage for a new mating pair of sugar glider and recently purchased an animal safe faux plant for them to play in and was wondering if there are any live plants that i might be able to replace it with that wouldn't harm them and if the faux plant is safe in the first place?

Congratulations! Having a mating pair is a lot of fun. You will be amazed when you first see a little hand, foot, or tail emerging from the pouch!
I have some fake plants in my cages. It is kind of pitiful when the female brings the fake leaves into the pouch to make a "nest" for the babies. Yes, animal safe fake plants are fine, as are glider-safe plants. There are several lists available online. I think this one is particularly helpful:
