Answer
Dear Brelynn:

I am sorry about how long it took me to get back, I was at the hospital with my sick son.  We got home about 1:00 a.m. and I am answering first thing.  I hope you get this in time.

Oh my goodness!  You are absolutely correct.  20 grams is about the same weight as my 1 week old joeys.  That baby is either not 8 weeks or it is sick and should have vet attention immediately.  If this is a USDA licensed breeder, please advise them of same.  If they do not take the joey to a vet or continue to attempt to sell it as a healthy 8 week old, I would report them to the USDA.  If they are a hobby breeder, you can try your local exotic animal authorities.

I can tell you that the exact same thing happened to me with  my very first joey.  A breeder sold me a 20 oz joey and she did not survive after over $600 in vet bills.  She was emaciated, having been pulled from her mother too early.

Best of luck with this serious situation.
