snake in basement

Question
Hi Kevin, Back in June of 2010 saw a snake in basement, sent kids down to see if they could get it out of basement, they could not.  My husband kept telling me that it was long gone, so that is what I beleived, well about a month ago, I was cleaning in basement, sorting and vaccuming. A couple days later, I went to get a light bulb from a box and on the top of that box was a snake skin.  So much for him being "long gone".  We have put down 2 glue traps, with no success in catching him.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as I am deathly afraid of them.  Oh and we also have 2 large adult cats.  One has had injuries that were unexplained (this was prior to getting 2nd cat), but closer to Summer of 2010 and none in a while. Could he have been in contact with the snake.  He is a scaredy cat. Thank you

Answer
Strangely enough, Snakes are scared to death of cats. There is no good way to catch a snake other than gathering 3 or 4 people together and looking through eveything. The most likely place you are going to find him is in a warm spot (water pipes, behind freezers, etc...)
