Snake Problems

Question
Hi over the last couple of months both of my snakes (Ball Python and Brazilian Rainbow Boa) have been having problems lately. I believe my BRB has RI because it has trouble breathing and has troubles with shedding, so I have increased the temperature by getting a better heat lamp and spraying its tank more. My question for this is how do I regulate it better at night? And is there a way to treat the breathing or just keep the tank well misted?
And my ball python has burned herself again =( so I sprayed her down really good with cool water. Should I do this every day or so to help heal the burns? And also she hasn't been eating lately (she went about 3 weeks without any food!) but she ate about a week ago. She also looks like she is thinning out. How can I fix these problems?! I'm really not a bad owner I just don't know why these problems have come on at the same time? Please help!!

Answer
Jordan,  They both have to go to the vet and get medication for the URI's . There is nothing you can do yourself with that or you may lose them. Maintaining your temp at night ...the best way you to do that is with red light. They do not see on the same spectrum that we do so they don't recognize the light and therefore do not lose their night time. Now, the misting is good but over misting can sometimes cause mold in the tank so watch for that....The best thing and a thing that should always be available and it helps with the humidity is a large enough bowl for them to curl into when they want. A very large heavy maybe ceramic dog food bowl. I don't know how big your rainbow is. It also keeps the humidity up in your enclosure which I hope is very large. Also remember even though these are both snakes I know you know they are going to have a large difference in size and if he gets larger and hungry he will eat the ball. Get to that Vet. Let me know how they are doing....Good Luck, Tina
