Condensation in my corn snakes tank.

Question
Hi. Since the weather has turned colder, I get a lot of condensation in my snake's tank. It is causing the beech wood chips to get wet and turn moldy. This only happens on one side of the tank (the side which does not have the heat mat next to it. What can I do to stop this from happening? Thank you.

Answer
I have two suggestions. 1. Move the enclosure and 2. change the substrate to cypress. Cypress or coconut bark is the best substrate to help ward off mold. Oh, one more thing. 3. You could add a heat lamp to the other side of the the enclosure, but do not get that side too hot. Start with a really small bulb. You want to keep the enclosure with a hot side and a cool side, but just a little heat can keep the condensation away.
