how to safely force open mouth

i have a chinese water dragon that's about a year and a half old i recently noticed a little puss signifying infection. I ran him to the vet and he applied some anti bacterial and gave me some medication, but apparently i do not have the vets touch in the matter.  I was wondering a good technique to allow me to apply the medicine, and insure i don't hurt him. TY

That is a great question!
It is tricky for sure.  Are you using a syringe or a dropper?  You can try to use a q-tip to try & get the side of the mouth open for him to start licking.  Then you can finish getting the meds into him.  
Or you can mix the meds with water or juice & use a dropper to drip onto the end of his nose & he should start licking that off of his nose.  
I hope he is feeling better soon.  
Are you keeping him in a glass tank?
