Question
I have a Texas Collared lizard approx. 3ins not including tail and approx 3-4 months old. Stopped eating suddenly about 2 wks ago. went 4 days without eating.I kept offering water 3-4 times daily and it would drink. It finally regained strength and ate 1 mealworm on that forth day and ate another the nextday. then began to get weak again and refuse to eat again. It went another 5 days without eating until today when it ate 1 mealworm. It continues to drink regularly. I read something about parasites being a common problem. If you feel this could be the case, what type of dewormer do I need and where do I find it. Thanks

Answer
Hello Shea,

Oh definitely post a picture of your collared lizard.  He sounds small.
What type of lighting are you using?  Do you use any UVB lighting at all, & if so is it a flourescent tube light or a compact or coil light?  What type of basking light do you use is it a bright white light or a colored light?
What are the temps in the tank & how do you measure them?

What do the stools look like?  Are they runny or smelly?  The urates, are they hard or soft?  Parasites can be a problem, yes.  Is he captive bred or wild caught, do you know?
Is he losing weight currently?
You can get some jumpstart appetite stimulant which may help him regain his appetite.  You can usually find that at  www.reptilesupply.com

You should also consider getting a fecal done to determine if he has parasites.  Let me know how he is doing.
