Beardie hates me!!

Hi, my beardie is about 8 months old. He's healthy and eats like a pig, the only problem is he doesn't seem to like me! The reason I chose a beardie is because I heard they are tame and actually like being handled. I take him out once a day and until recently he didn't seem to mind it too much, but now he runs away when I try to go near him. I never grab him from above and offer him his favorite veg but nothing seems to work. He frantically climbs out of the warm shallow bath basin i put him in too, which i heard they're meant to love!!I also allow him to wander round the sitting room for a while in the evening with a run he uses to get back upto his vivarium, so he can get used to coming out.He comes in and out at will.I know it may seem a trivial question but have you any tips on how I can make friends with him?!

 When they get this old they go through a hormonal stage and is acting up like a teenager, testing you.  Pick him up every day, scooping from the belly, not from above.  Hold him till he is calm.  This way he'll learn that bad behavior gets him nowhere.  When he behaves, give him his favoorite treat as a reward.  As soon as the initial hormonal surge subsides, he'll go back to his sweet self as long as you keep up with the attention, the holding and the treats.
