bearded dragon possible mbd or impaction

22 11:51:48

Question
for the past month or 2 ive noticed that my bearded dragon doesnt seem to use her back legs. when she is sitting on her basking spot her back legs will be lying straight out behind her  and if i move them to what should be a normal position, they just go straight out behind her.

she also seems to drag them when she walks. she has never had a problem with eating, but for the past few days she hasnt been interested in any of her live food. i usually feed her dubia roaches, but she ran out of medium ones (i cant order any until next week) and so i bought her 2 tubs of brown crickets but she wont touch those.

im worried she has mbd and i need to know if there is anything i can do to cure her?

Answer
Sarah,   This is usually a sign of lower intestinal impaction. These guys are prone to it. It has alot to do with not enough vegetation in their diet and not varying the insects with soft worms. Go an get some mineral oil from your local drug store and get a small eyedropper and giver her a half a dropper full everyday for a few days. I would also let her soak in the bath or something in some warm water to help her hydrate well. I would let her soak or get her used to it at least once a week. I am going to send you a great feeding sheet. Let me know how she is doing in a few days. If this keeps up after a week I would take her to a vet. Sometimes if you let the impaction go to long it hardens and needs to be removed by a vet. Good Luck, Tina
