QuestionOn checking my chameleon this morning I noticed that the tail has a kink in it about a third of the way from the end of the tail. It does still curl round branches etc. but definitely does not look normal. Worried it may be damaged.
How can I tell if it is broken? thanks alot
AnswerHi Philip, If the kink is fairly obvious then chances are it is a mild break but only an x-ray would confirm it. Whenever there is a seemingly spontaneous break like that you should really review your calcium supplementation and UV lighting. Veileds or Yemens are a rapidly growing species and that creates a high demand for calcium. Tail kinks can be an early sign of deficiency and the resulting condition of metabolic bone disease.
