Dried Feces or Prolapse in Green Iguana?

Question
I have a 2 year old male Iguana. He has what appears to be dried feces sticking about an inch out of his cloaca. I was sure it was feces and soaked him in a warm bath for a half hour, and tried to remove it while he was in the bath and afterwards. It is not coming out. I am not being very forceful with it in case it would injure him in some way, or in case it is prolapse. My pulling on it does not seem to bother him, but again, I am being very careful about it. He is in good health besides this. I can not find much info on prolapse becoming dry, other then that it can and would obviously be a big medical issue for him. So I guess my question is how to determine if it is prolapsed tissue that has dried, or simply dried feces, and what I can do in either case. Obviously if I have to get him to a vet I will, but I would hate to pay $100.00+ just to find out it is feces I could have removed myself.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer
Sounds like a prolapse, either cloacal or hemipenes and a young male can prolapse his equipment.  Do see your vet, because a prolapse is not good. in the meantime, heat up water and add a lot of sugar to it. after the sugar is desolved soak a towel in it, allow it to cool and wrap his bottom in it.  This will keep the area moist and reduce swelling and inflamation.  Get him to the vet as soon as possible and keep him quiet, like in his carrier till the vet sees him.  It should be considered an emergency so the vet should take him right away.
