Question
I have wild tads rescued from a plastic tarp (about to be dumped on the ground) which are turning into 1 1/2 cm size bright green frogs with brown chins. What food is small enough for them and how do I get it? When do they start eating after tails are gone? There have been 4 tiny crickets in the aquarium for 3 days and they are still there. How do I put fruit flys in an aquarum without losing them all flying away? Thanks. Tammy

Answer
Dear Tammy,
thank you for your question-
Fruit flies are probably better to start with. If you offer crickets, make sure there's something to eat for the crickets to eat, they can nibble the frogs and hurt them. If you put the fruit flies in the fridge for two or three minutes, they get sluggish and can be handled easily. You can try offering them small woodlice or silverfish. Fruit flies can be bought online, usually these are nt able to fly anyway. Here's a seller I found (I haven't bought anything from them, I just found them and the price sounds reasonable):

Here's another one:

Most frogs don't start to feed right away, it usually takes a few days, so that's nothing to worry about. If you want to keep them, you need to dust their prey with a good mineral/vitamin supplement at every other feeding to prvent calcium deficiencies.

I hope I was of some help to you
