Question
i have a pair of blizzard leopard geckos. a male (bernard)and a female (cici). we recently discovered she is pregnant and that he has gotten smaller. his tail has gotten thinner which is a sure sign to me that he is not eating. i have been keeping them on a basic diet of crickets, and wax worms on occasion. to my question..... i noticed today that his ankles are swollen and look kinda bruised. he has not had a fall and nothing in his tank is high enougn for him to fall from. this worries me a great deal. my female is eating just fine so im comfortable in sayin that its nothing in their home. im wondering if he may not be eating because he knows shes pregnant and if maybe that may be something in relation to the swollen ankles. i have been looking all night to find something to help answer my question but to my avail ive found nothing. please help me if you can i love my baby so much and hes depending on me to find out whats wrong.i tried taking a picture to attach but my $200 camera is a peice if .....

Answer
Hello Shelly,

It sounds like she may be eating all of the food because she is gravid.
Is he drinking anything?  It sounds like he is not eating & could be dehydrated.  I would take him out & try to feed him separately.  If he wont eat on his own, then you will need to get him some chicken or turkey babyfood & use a plastic dropper or a plastic syringe.
Also, try to get some oral fluids into him also.  You will need to use a swab to get his mouth open & squirt the food & fluids in quickly.  Or you could try to drip the food onto his nose to see if he would willingly lick the food off of his nose.
