Question
I have a pet snake, a columbian red tail boa, and I recently found out I'm pregnant. What are the risks and what precautions should I take?

Answer
Wash your hands throughly after handling the snake.  Reptiles CAN carry Salmonella but the risk is fairly low with snakes UNLESS you feed them chicken.  My wife made it through 2 pregnancies with over 200 snakes in our pocession so not need to panic.  In case our OBGYN missed it, don't forget to stay away from cat litter boxes!  That can cause problems: Guardia or something like that-a bacteria which is found in cat poop which can harm the fetus.
