my geckos nose is all pink and red

I've had my fat tailed gecko for about a year now and he's been healthy up until a week or two ago when his nose right above his mouth got all pink and red. it looks like a deep cut and the skin around it looks like it's scabbing over a bit. it could just be a really deep cut but I don't know how he could have gotten it. it doesn't seem to be going away, so I thought I'd just ask to make sure in case it's something more serious I don't know about.

Hello Allen,

Is he having trouble shedding?  Is he rubbing his nose on the glass repeatedly?
What are his temps like?  How do you measure the temps?  
Do you have an undertank heater & a basking light for him?  
Do you leave crickets in the tank?  They can bite him if they are left in overnight.

Let me know how he is doing.  
Oh try to put some antibiotic ointment on his nose to help with healing.
