Crested Gecko Egg Help

Question
I recently bought a female crested gecko to put with my male. She was housed with a few other females and a male. It never occurred to me that she could be gravid.. it turns out she was. She has only been with my male for less then a week and so I did not bother to put a laying box in yet. I was cleaning the cage and found two eggs in the water dish!! I quickly took them out and put them in hatch rite then in to the incubator. Will the eggs hatch even though they were laid in the water??? They were in there for no more than a day because last night i filled up the water and did not see them. Also I candled them and did see pink and also saw some veins.

Answer
Hi Tyler, That has happened to me a few times.... very frustrating. I always incubate the eggs anyway but have never managed to save any. Like you, I never knew exactly how long they were in the water but it would be closer to a few hours then just a few minutes. I really don't know the rate at which the eggs absorb water and how quickly it proves fatal. I suspect it happens fairly quickly. It would be an easy thing to conduct an experiment on but I have never of anyone doing it.
My gut feeling is that your eggs are likely lost but I would love to be proven wrong. You might as well continue to incubate them and please let me know if they do hatch.
