Western Fence Lizard

I noticed there are a few tiny bugs on my lizard.  They look  like a tiny black dot or brown dot.  What are they?

Hello Patty,

That sounds like your lizard has mites.  Did you get him from outside or from a petstore?
What type of substrate are you using currently?  If you have a loose substrate you will need to take that out & clean the entire tank.  I would use paper towels, or non adhesive shelf liner for a cleaner substrate.
You can give him a bath & gently scrub him with a soft toothbrush to help remove any that may be adhered to any scales.
