sick savannah monitor lizard

my savannah monotr is about 20 months old and he has developed an invection or something on his front right leg. i took him to the vet and they told me that hes bone has been deteriating and that it will never ffully recover. is this true are there any methods or exercises for my lizArd that could help in his recovery. or even some kind of special medicine?

 Bone infections are devastating.  I would try and get a second opinion from another reptile vet.  If the bone infection is spread enough, he may have to lose the leg or if systemic there may be nothing you can do.  Get a second opinion, I would think a vet would at least try an antibiotic.
