I have a leopard gecko, and i recently got a house gecko, and i was wondering if i could house them together, right now the leopard gecko is in a 10 gallon tank, and the house gecko is in a 29 gallon tank, and i was hoping to combine the two into the 29 gallon tank, or i have a 35 gallon if need be, can you help me, Thank You

Answer
Hi Angel, I am including a link by respected veteran reptile authors and breeders Richard and Patti Bartlett on keeping mixed community tanks.

The primary criteria to determine suitable candidates are similar size and environmental needs. It also helps to avoid food competition if the inhabitants are active at different times, ie. a nocturnal reptile housed with one active during the day. Combining an arboreal species with a ground dweller also helps.
I'm not sure which species of Hemidactylus you have as there are a few that get called "house gecko" as a common name but I would be concerned about the size difference primarily. Also the environment requirements would be quite different if your house gecko is one of the tropical species. No one inhabitant can even come close to fitting in another inhabitant's mouth! Lizards will chomp down on the head of a smaller reptile even if they cannot come close to swallowing the whole thing.

In the book  "The Leopard Gecko Manual" author Phillipe de Vosjoli has a small list of other species that he has successfully kept with leos. He suggests Collared lizards, small Cordylus species also known as Armidillo or sun-gazer lizards and South African flat rock lizards, Platysaurus species.
Community tanks should also be as much space as you can provide to reduce forced interaction between the species and require close observation to make sure everyone is thriving.
