QuestionI have a 1-year-old male holland lop & would like to get him a companion. Is another male of the same breed or not a good choice & how should I introduce them? Or would a guinea pig be a better choice? I'm a 1st time bunny owner. Thanks for any info!
AnswerA male is generally not a good idea, but rather a spayed female. If you have a rescue group in your area who does bunny matchmaking, that would be best, then if the rabbit you pick out isn't the one for your rabbit, they can find someone who is.
There is good information on bonding rabbits at http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/introductions.html
Generally rabbits prefer the company of other rabbits. There is the occasional rabbit who doesn't like the company of other rabbits, in which case a guinea pig buddy might work out.
