short breaths

Question
Hello, I have a indoor rex rabbit.  He is approximately 2 years
old. I just woke up this morning, and fed him the usual breakfast
of 2 leaves of greenleaf/romaine lettuce.  He did not eat them,
and he's looking somewhat lethargic (although, he tends to be in
the morning)..but then I realized he hasn't been active all day
and he's taking many quick, short breaths (like he does when we
think he is nervous). Because of the breaths, I noticed his ears
shake, so I touched his ears..and they were very cold. We always
keep the patio door open here in Seattle, and it doesn't get
below 50+degF outside.  His cage is somewhat near the door..
so I fear he might have gotten cold? But, he has been there for a
long time and last night was not a very cold night.  Anyway, I
can't find a website that will tell me what to do about a cold
bunny (or atleast that is taking short breaths for no apparent
reason).  I can only find what to do with an overheated rabbit..
what to do when his ears are cold?

Thank you so much.

Answer
Don't suppose you have a thermometer so you can take his temperature?  A normal rabbit temperature is 101-103 F, and the ears will not tell you what the temp is.

He could be breathing rapidly because he was scared, or because he has an illness that causes him to breathe like that.

Here is some information that tells you about medical emergencies and tells you how to take a rabbit temperature.

Sorry I can't give you more information, I hope that is helpful.
