Onions and potatoes

Question
Couple of my rabbits got into them.  I thought rabbits don't like onions.  Does it mean they were really hungry?  Should I increase their daily pellet rations.

Answer
Hi,

generally they don't like onions. Potatoes they probably would like as historically people have fed them these (but potatoes aren't good for them to eat!).

Honestly not knowing too much about the circumstances as to how the got into them I have no idea if they were hungry.  I'd assume yes, they wouldn't have eaten them otherwise.  Hungry enough to at least test them out.

Better to increase their hay during the day and night.  They should always have hay available to eat, it should be freshened (ie topped off with a fresh handful) several times a day.  that is the best thing for them that you can give them.
