biting while on a date

Question
hi there,
we recently adopted a new male bunny (neutered) from a local chapter of the house rabbit society as a companion for our female rabbit. they had 3 "dates" before the official adoption, and while they were both somewhat curious they were both pretty shy and mostly ignored eachother. patch (the new male) has been living with us for a week now (separately from autumn, our female), and so we decided to re-start up the dates - just for 5 minutes at a time. last night, a few minutes into the date patch bit autumn- there was no visible injury, but she ran up to me and began burrowing under my shirt, and breathing heavily; as she is a bunny who doesn't like to be picked up this was pretty unnerving for me. is this going to wreck their relationship (prevent bonding?), and if not, what can i do to prevent patch from biting autumn? i ended the date immediately after last night's bite, but i'm not sure if i should have been so abrupt.

thanks.

Answer
Are you having them meet on territory that is neutral to both of them?  A bathtub works well for this purpose, if there is no where else.  You could also try a car ride, put both of them in a carrier and have someone watch them while someone else is driving.

He may just not like her in his territory.

Generally biting is a good reason to stop.  Did he jump on her and bite her, or just bite her on the side or rear?  If he jumped on her first he may have been trying to establish dominance.  Bunnies have to work that out between themselves to decide who's boss.

I think it was good that she decided you were her safety away from the big mean bunny.  Hopefully that won't have to happen again.
