Question
hi there my name is lisa and i am trying to raise 4 baby bunnies and was just wondering what basics guide lines to follow to help keep them alive as i think i have almost lost one of them due to not gaining weight. i am feeding them 250ml cows milk mixed with one whole egg as explained by the vet and just recently add some evaporated milk to the mix. any help would be great thankyou very much.?

Answer
Hi,

hadn't heard that mix before.

The typical recommendation I've given is the Kitten/Small Animal Milk Replacement mix from pet supply stores, and instead of mixing with water, mixing with heavy cream.  This also involves making the bottle nipple hole a little bigger as the mix is thicker.  But rabbit milk is very thick naturally.

Make sure they are warm.  And together in their nesting box area.

The best articles I can point you to are on teh House Rabbit Society website.   www.rabbit.org

Search on "babies", "newborn", "orphan", "nutrition", etc.  You can find great things already written up.  That's the best and fastest thing to be able to point you to.
