QuestionI have a male Holland lop about 4 months old, he lives inside, gets fed alpha hay, bonanza bounti-buffet rabbit food and occasionally fresh fruit and veggies. He is not nurtured and is the only bunny
I have a couple of questions out of curiosity:
To what extent can a bunny be trained?
Can a bunny learn its name?
Is it necessary to wait till the bunny is 6 months to feed it fresh fruit and veggies?
How often do you have to cut bunnies nails?
About how big do Holland lops get?
Thank you!

AnswerDear Melanie,
First thing: Ditch the Bonanza Bounti Buffet. It's the rabbit version of junk food, and it's extremely unhealthy for your bunny. Rabbit pellets should be 100% timothy or alfalfa based, and not contain any corn, seeds, colored bits or dried fruit. Those things cause obesity and liver damage, and shouldn't even be on the market. Bunnies are not social pack animals as dogs are, so they do not "obey." They are highly intelligent, however, and can learn everything from basic litterbox habits to the complex rigors of show jumping, depending on the personality of the individual rabbit.
Rabbits can learn their names and other words, and you'll find your bunny will have you well trained soon.
Complete information on fruit and vegetables can be found in the diet article above. You can gradually start with fresh greens as soon as bunny is eating solid food, but don't do everything at once.
Rabbit nails can grow quickly, and unless they are walking on a surface that helps grind them down, they will probably need to be trimmed every few weeks. You can find good web sites on how to do this here:

Holland Lops tend to stay fairly small: about 3-4 lbs. at maturity.

Hope this helps!
