My pet Netherland Dwarf is sick

Question
I've had two pet bunnies for 6 years, and I'm used to them getting their random illnesses that I get treated at the vet.  But my dwarf bunny seems to always get sniffly and sneezy during the summer.  I've brought him into the vet to see if anything was caught in his nose, and there was no obstruction visible.  Once when I brought him in they said he had an infection, and when I gave him the medicine for it he got better, but as soon as the medicine ran out the sniffling came back.
He's still drinking and eating properly, but he's sniffling and sneazing and just looks miserable.  I know it's not common, but do you think my rabbit has common summer allergies?  I've changed the bedding in his cage multiple times to make sure he wasn't allergic to that.  It seems like once summer/spring hits and all that pollen is in the air he just starts sneezing like crazy (his symptoms also get much worse when I bring him outside).  If it is allergies, is there anything I can do to help him?

Thanks so much for the help,
Laura

Answer
Dear Laura,

Chronic runny nose and runny eyes in rabbits is often due to problems with the tooth roots, and this is especially common in dwarf rabbits with their short faces.  Please read:

and

You can find an experienced rabbit vet here:

who may be able to do a tear duct flush or prescribe medication that will help control the symptoms.  But often, this is a chronic problem that might need lifelong care.

Hope this helps.
