rabbit outside

Question
hi Samantha,
we got my rabbit (lily) from a pet shop in April, she has lived outside ever since, but now it's colder we've covered her hutch with an old mattress and 2 mats at the side, (the mattress even goes over the front to completely cover the hutch) before I go to school at 8:10 I stroke her ears, they sometimes feel ok but sometimes a bit cold.
My mum says she doesn't really want her in the house because she gets woodshavings all over the place.
Should I persuade my mum to let my rabbit come inside?
I know her hutch is covered but I'm only 10 years old and I love my rabbit so much, and I would be heart broken if anything happened to her so please tell me, the sooner the better.
thanks
Claudia

Answer
Hi,
If your bunny has been outside all of this time, then she is fine living outdoors. Rabbits really are made for cold weather and prefer it over hot weather.
Her ears are the place where the blood vessels are closest to the top. Usually they feel cold because they are furthest away from their hearts. When their ears are cool this means that their bodies are the right temperatures.
