mini rex young

I have 5 young mini rex that are 16 days old.  Is it OK to take the nest box out of the pen.  These rabbits are so small that I am worried that their legs will go thru the half inch wire. I am planning to put a board in the pen to help with matters., John

Babies can get their legs caught in the wire, and it can result in them ripping the leg out of the socket. However, the  wire on the sides of the cages is usually the most dangerous. I'd advise keep the nestbox in, just turned on it's side, for now. If you have any babysaver wire or urine guards you can put on the sides of the cage, those would help a lot in preventing the legs from getting pulled.
