Milk vs. No milk

Question
Hello, I just got a mini rabbit yesterday, he seems to young to be away from his mother, what kind of milk should he be drinking? Thanks!

Answer
If he is over 4 weeks of age, just give him a lot of hay and pellets. Basically, if he is moving around well, he is probably old enough that he will be okay away from his mother, as long as you keep him in a quiet area away from any stress and give him all the timothy and/or grass hay he wants. Adding milk at this point will probably just mess up his system even more. Rabbits should stay with their mothers until at LEAST 6 weeks (preferably 7 or 8), but some people sell them very young because pet stores want them as young and cute as possible.

If he isn't moving around well (i.e. still very wobbly on his legs), he is way too young to be away from his mother, and you will need to suppliment his hay and pellets with formula. If that is the case, this is good formula to use:

1/2 Cup evaperated milk
1/2 Cup water
1 egg yolk
1 Tablespoon Corn syrup
