Pot bellied hit by a car, likely brain injury

Question
I am desperate. Our sweet little Hamlet, 1 year old mini pot bellied pig was hit by a car in our gated yard three days ago. I rushed him to the only vet I knew of in my area that had some pig experience. It was a very low speed accident, but has obviously caused some brain injury. Xrays show no broken bones, and he was initially looking like he was improving over the first 12 hours. He stopped improving and has even regressed some, with his condition not changing in the past 48 hours. He cannot stand, and only sits resting on his sternum when manually put in that position. Left to himself he lays on his left side (always goes that way, even if placed on his right side) and has constant moderate tremors, mostly in his front half. He still eats and passes stool, but doesn't try to urinate (has to be expressed, or leaks out sometimes). The vet doesn't feel that he can do anything else, and that he isn't likely to improve, saying we need to face the fact that Hamlet's quality of life will never be good. He has been on IV for hydration, anti-inflammatory meds, pain meds and some steroid treatment. Do have any other suggestions that we might try before giving up? We love this little guy so much, I just can't bear to give up without seeking other possible hope. He also shows signs in the Xrays of pulmonary contusions that are giving him some breathing troubles, but he does breathe completely on his own.

Thank you so much for any help or referral you can provide.

Answer
Awww, I am sooooo sorry.
Vets know very little about neurological problems in pigs.
Therefore, your pig COULD recover, without head X rays, who knows?
It could be only a concussion.
The best care you can get for a trauma like this is your state vet school.
They can take the tests that will determine the extent of injury, such as an ultrasound or even a CT scan.
If you want to save your pig, I would suggest getting him to the vet school ASAP.
You are in my prayers....but I am NOT a vet.
