Question
my potbelly pig has mange..is it contagious to my kids , dog,  cat ??
please help & thank you..
a.

Answer
The mites that cause swine mange will not infect other animals or humans. These mites can not live long once they leave the pig. Eggs will not survive or hatch unless they are laid on the pig, so they can not infect bedding, carpet or furniture.

In short, swine mange mites are easier to get rid of than fleas.

Mange medicine is given in two doses two weeks apart. The first dose kills any living mites. The second dose kills any eggs that might have hatched since the first dose. In severe infestations, a third dose might be necessary.
