Male Pig Breeding/Hormones

Question
3 Piggies
3 Piggies
I have 3 mini-pigs; one male, two female - all litter mates. They are around 13 weeks old. Pickle, the male, hump the other two incessantly. They sleep in the same pen together at night, so I'm sure when the gals are mature, we'll have babies. This is fine, I would like to breed them. A know-it-all friend of mine says I have to separate them now, because the females are too young to have a litter - that it will stunt them and cause all kinds of physical complications. In reading various posts, I anticipate that Pickle will become a smelly nuisance to everyone.

Aren't there alternatives to castration? Isn't there a hormone shot that could alter his aggressive sexual behavior? It seems like to castrate him would make him somewhat redundant. How early can I breed them?

Answer
Hello,
You need to castrate you male.  You should never breed littermates.  From the picture and age I will guess they will become very large and we are so over populated now with these pigs it would be a shame to produce more of these larger ones that will end up unwanted!
If you want to be responsible castrate your male and spay your females and leave the breeding to the responsible knowledgeable breeders who spay and neuter all of their piglets before selling them.
Please be responsible!
