socializing orphaned piglets

Question
I have 8 piglets that were orphaned at birth and have been bottle fed goats
milk and now cows milk for the last 4 weeks. They are now learning to eat
moistened pellets out of a dish, and I am wondering what sort of
socialization they should have before going to new homes. I live on a farm,
so they are getting to see lots of different animals, but we aren't going to be
keeping all 8 and I want them to be successful in their other pet homes.
What should I be doing with them until they are ready to go around 8 weeks
old? They are living outside in a pen with a heated house now. They were in
the kitchen for the first 3 weeks.

Answer
Good for you!
Sounds like you are doing well. You may want to separate them and work on them individually. Using a play pen or small room works well, using food as a bait.
Socialization is our specialty, please consider our book "Potbellied Pig  Behavior and Training"  at our website valentinesperformingpig.com
or Amazon.com
How well you socialize and train them will probably determine if the people who get them keep them forever! Being gentle, using your voice, and approaching the piglets from their lower sides will help.
But there is SO much more to it!
They limit us to 200 characters.
Blessings,
