Question
I just recieved a 3 week old pot bellied pig. current weight of 1.8 pounds. her mother rejected her, and was told that the father had killed all of her siblings, leaving her as the only survivor.
I have had her at the vet this morning, for vomitting.. they treated her and let her go this afternoon, however once we hit the road, she began vomitting again....can pigs get car sick?????
thank you for your time!

Answer
Yes, some pigs do get motion sickness. A friend of mine had a pig that got sick when ever he rode in an elevator.

Riding in a crate is safer than sitting on a seat for the pig, but can also contribute to motion sickness. Also, since you just got her, the stress from everything strange and new, especially a change in diet, is also contributing to the sickness.

After she's had a chance to adjust to her new life, try taking her out in the car again and just sitting with her for a few minutes. Then do it again with the engine running. Then take her up and down the drive or just around the block. Eventually she will get used to the motion and be fine in cars.
