Question
Hi i have a pot belly pig named harley about 5 months old yesterday he jumped off the couch and hit the table.. took him to the vet said his front leg was broke gave me some rimadyl 75 and that was it.. will he ever get better and is there anything i can do to help him.. also how many times a day should i be feeding him he is really big thanks alot let me know  Pam

Answer
Piglets should get 1/2 cup per 15 lb per day. At 1 year, they need 1 cup per 50 lb per day, supplemented with veggies or outdoor grazing time (on untreated grass only!)

Wild pigs in natural environments eat little bits all day long. So they should be fed at least twice a day.

The kind of food is just as important as the amount. The best food is pot-bellied pig food. The extra veggies also help piggy feel less hungry.

Harley is still young and his bones are still growing, I'm sure this will heal fully in a couple of months. I'm not a vet and I haven't seen the x-rays. So I am guessing that the break was minor, and a cast might cause more problems than it would solve.

I've heard of pigs breaking their front legs jumping off couches and beds. The pigs recovered nicely, and the owners fashioned "piggy stairs" to help the pigs get up and down safely.
