Question
I have two male mini pigs, they are about 8 months old, they are loving and gentle and getting to be well behaved.
Just recently they have started to chew a lot more, they are foaming and dribbling at the mouth, Are they teething if so how often to they teeth and what can I do to help, if not do you know why they are doing this.

Answer
All pigs foam at the mouth from time to time. Intact male pigs foam constantly, and will leave a trail of foam behind them. Neutered males and females foam too, but not as much.

Pigs will chomp and foam when they are angry and fighting, or hungry, or smell something good, or tired and ready to go to sleep. Some pigs foam noticeably more while teething. In an older pig, a sudden increase in foaming can indicate pain.

Pigs have three sets of teeth. They are born with the first set, called needle teeth. They start loosing needle teeth and growing baby teeth at about 8 weeks, and continue to loose and grow teeth until they are about 2 years old, when all permanent teeth should be in.
