I WAS JUST RECENTLY ASKED TO TAKE 6 POT BELLIED PIGS. I RESCUE ANY AND MOST ANIMALS. I'M NO EXPERT AND HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH PIGS. I KNOW ONE FEMALE IS PREGNANT. I WAS GIVEN NO BACKGROUND INFO ON ANY OF THEM. I HAVE SEPARATED THE PREGNANT FEMALE. WHAT ELSE SHOULD I DO, AND WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR? SOME ARE EXTREMELY THIN SHOULD I SEPERATE THEM AS WELL? Separate any intact boars, or there will be a lot more pregnant pigs! Have the males fixed as soon as possible.
Watch them as they eat. If the thin ones are having trouble eating, they might have a tooth or tusk or other mouth problem. Or if they are being bullied away from the food they will need to be fed separately.
The pregnant pig should have plenty of bedding. She'll start to make a nest as the due date approaches.
