Question
Hey Helen! :) I've recently brought home my new love, Bonnie. She's 6 weeks old and is getting comfortable in her new home. I'm just wondering, besides all the research I've done, what advice you can give me, especially on feeding. I give her about 1/3 c of pellets a day, three times a day...is this too much? Too little? The couple I got her from also brought me some powder milk mix, but reading on the internet, I'm not sure if she should be getting the milk at all!? I have her drinking water as of now. What exactly should her feedings consist of, and will I be able to just know how much to feed her as she gets older? Thank you for all your help! :)

Answer
Feeding pigs is more art than science. Each pig is different, and their environment and activity level also has a huge impact.

The general rule of thumb is 1/2 c per 15 lb of piglet, no less than 1/2 c (a small piglet may not finish it all). Divide it into at least two meals, and supplement with fresh veggies and training treats.

Milk is fine for pigs, and pigs tend to love dairy foods. It does add extra calories, and after awhile, extra calories do add up. But, your baby is still young and adding a little milk to her pellets won't hurt, especially if she is getting regular adult food. Starter pellets or baby pellets have extra milk in them already.
