Jumping Pig

Question
I have a 5-month-old potbelly pig who seems to be a great escape artist. During the day, while I am at work, he is confined in a 24" high pen in order to keep him away from my 2 dogs (they get along fine but I don't want to take any chances if I'm not home.) However, for the past week, he has been outside the pen when I come home and running free with the dogs. The pen is still securely anchored to the ground and the door is shut. The only thing I can guess is that he's jumping OVER the pen to get out. He does jump up onto a small patio (about 18" high). Is it normal for pigs to be able to jump OVER things that high? And is this something I will constantly have to worry about or will he outgrow it as he gets heavier (he's 24lbs now)?

Answer
Yes piglets can be accomplished jumpers. He will grow out of the jumping phase. Is his pen in a room where the door can be closed? Another possibility is to put two baby gates, one above the other, in an open door way. Or, install a temporary door, inexpensive wooden screen doors are good for this.
