Bradford Pear Tree fruit toxic

Question
I have a 4 month old potbelly pig. Periodically during the day he goes out to his pen.  In it there is a Bradford Pear Tree.  He has been eating the fruit/seeds that drop from this tree. Are they toxic?  He also seems to be pooping more.  Thanks for any info on this.

Answer
The seeds and pits of some fruits are dangerous, but pear seeds should not be a problem.

Fruits like apples and pears are high in fiber and natural sugars. The fiber increases the amount of poop, and the sugars can cause gas.

Fruit also has calories. When piggie is eating a lot of fruit, compensate by reducing the size of regular meals. If piggie eats unlimited fruit in addition to a normal diet, he could start to pack on extra pounds.
