Question
My two hermit crabs appear to be in good health, but I can barely tell if they eat. The food seems to be the same amount which I put there all through the week. I use two types of foods, bought from the pet store, about a half a teaspoon each and offer crackers, fruit at other times, but they seem to hardly eat! Is this common?

Answer
Hermit crabs don't eat very much because their stomachs are very small. Offering variety is the best way to get them to eat. You can visit www.hermitcrabcuisine.com for a list of safe food to feed your crab.

Don't be surprised if it doesn't seem like they are eating much.

Try smoothing out the sand/bedding around the food dish to see if they've been visiting.
