shells and climbing toys

Well since you answered my last question excellently I decided to ask you two more. My hermit crab hasn't changed his shell and he is over a year old is this normal?  I don't have any climbing toys for my crab in his tank but I have a flower pot that he hides in, is this ok?       Thank-you

Hello again, This is normal from what I noticed when i had my crabs sometimes they moult and stay in the same shell I had one guy go to a new shell only to find his old one and move back a few days later! I guess its hard to get the right fit. Climbing toys I reccomend pieices of drift wood avalible as reptile branches in pet shops, climbing rocks for reptiles are also great as are the half log hides. they should ahve more then a flower pot to climb on if you have an apple tree hack off a branch and bake it in the oven on 350 for 15 minutes this will kill all the germs and any tiny bugs that were on the branch the crabs enjoy climbing and are sometimes called tree crabs as well.
