Should I get another one?

QUESTION: I have had one hermit crab (Hermie)for over a year and my mom said I could get another one. I am wondering if it is safe since he has beennalone for so long?

ANSWER: Hello, yes its safe and highly reccomended hermit crabs acctaully should never ever be housed alone I assume he is very lonely and would love a few friends.

QUESTION: Can hermit crabs live in a large plastic tanks that you get at a pet store?
ANSWER: Hello Yes they can, I used ten and 33 gallon fish tanks with wire reptile lids when I had hermits thou....the plastic ones are very easy to crack but are cheaper. I reccomend however at lest a ten gallon fish tank for begginers the plastic things are normaly smaller and a empty ten gallon tank will only cost 10-13 bucks plus a screen lid for 10/15. With this size tank you can keep 5/6 meduim crabs or 8 teny crabs or three very large crabs...golf ball sized or larger.... of course you can always mix sizes.

QUESTION: So if I put my one crab and the crab I am purchasing in there they could possible get out by breaking the tank?
ANSWER: LOL no no thats not what I ment at all, I ment they are easy to break when your washing the...the covers are easy to crack and if you drop the plastic tank is can bounce of crack.

QUESTION: ok so would a large critter keeper be big enough for two small crabs?

just read your comments, well just for everyone to know you Can get ten gallno "Blank tanks for 10-15 bucks and teh cover for around the same price...the wire screen covers for reptiles, these are of course canadian prices because I've never been anywhere but Canada. Even in the us hoever these tansk can be bought without anything in them, Petsmart and petcetera sells them as well jsut the tanks and just the covers...please forgive me if your outsdie of the two areas mentioned above you are right maybe you cant find them for that price in the uk or anywhere else. Aslo you might find used tanks in newspaper ads/online ads, reptile stores and fish stores. Cheers.
