molting problem

Question
I am a new hermit crab owner and am concerned about one of my crabs who is going through the molting process.  I have had him since September along with one other crab. The other crab breezed through the molting process with no issues.....he was buried about 6 weeks.  My other crab has been buried for almost 3 months and I have not seen any sort of activity.  He left his shell and is buried in a combination of moist sand and coconut substrate.  I am able to see one small claw above  ground but no movement.   He is in an 20 gallon enclosure that stays between 70 and 80 percent humidity and 75 degrees.   Should I be patient and not worry?  There is no bad smell, that I have read happens when they die.  Any info is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Jill, Some just have hard molts and can take months. Especially if it is one of the first few. Keep him sprayed well and wait. Its unfortunate sometimes they don't make it. This can be a tough process for them. I wish you guys luck. Watch for the smell. Good Luck, Tina
