hurt hermit crab

Question
Katie,
I have tried to e-mail a few people but no one can seem to help me, I hope you can. I am a teacher and have hermit crabs i my class. I am very, very careful about them because I want them to live. The first crab we got was hermy and he was so active. A week later I got two more from another teacher who didn't want them. Prince ( the biggest one) got into a fight with Hermy one night... I think. When I came into the room in the morning Hermy had a two hurt legs and his claw is hurt. I isolated him in a smaller tank at my house. He has trouble walking and eating food because of his injuries. I have been hand feeding him every day and putting him in warm water(dechlorinated)so he can drink. He's alive but seems to be getting worse and i just don't know what to do. Am I stressing him by bothering him? should I just continue to but food and water in ad leave him alone? Am I just prolonging his death? He seems to like plain yogurt and tuna(albacore) from a can. Thank you for any help you can offer I am so worried about my baby.

Answer
Jenna,
I had a crab like this but she only had two and a half legs...what you do is to get a toothpick and get baby food....different flavors and stuff...mine liked applesauce and mango and tropical flavors....put it by the mouth parts and if its hungry it will "suck" up the food by moving the mouth peices. Good luck, katie
