dead hermit crab??

Question
When I feed and water my hermit crabs, I found my smallest of the two (Lightening) half out of her shell, leg missing and upside down. I think the crabs smell "fishy" all the time so that doesn't help me in trying to determine if she has died.  I haven't seen any question that says the crab was upside down, does that mean that she has definitely died??

when you picked her up did she sort of fall out of the shell? If she did she is dead. If it is hollow she has molted (hermit-crabs.com). If she is unresponsive after a quick dip in water it means she is in the process of molting so leave her alone or that she has passed. What do you exactly mean upside down? Can you attach a picture?
