bugs on my crabs

Question
One day I checked up on my hermit crabs. I picked them up and when they came out I saw they have tiny whitish bugs crawling on them. Are they harmful? and how do I get rid of them for good???

Answer
Sounds like you might have mites. You will need to do a deep clean on the tank, and sterilize everything. Throw out the substrate and put in fresh substrate. Wash everything that can be washed and bake any wood items.
You will need to either buy predatory mites to eat the harmful mites on your crabs. Or you will have to give them a double strength salt water bath 3 times a day for 3 days (or until no more mites are seen on the crabs)
