QuestionHi we bought my son a hermit crab while we were down the shore yest and today when he was playing in his sand box he took him out and let him wander in the sand...we have not been able to find it..we sifted through all the sand in the box and it is not there..the shell is missing as well..the sandbox is in a fenced yard with grassy ground ect...do you think a bird would have caught it shell and all? This is our first hermit crab. thanks for your answer in advance.
AnswerHermit crabs can move extremely quickly and are adept climbers. He is mostly likely traveling toward water. Depending on the temperature/humidity in your area he may do well outside or he may have a lot of difficulty. There is not a lot I can tell you about how to find a crab that has been lost outside. I'm sorry.
